San Buenaventura Power Ltd. Co. (SBPL) is undertaking the construction of a 500-megawatt power plant in Mauban, Quezon – the first coal plant in the Philippines to utilize the state-of-the-art supercritical technology proven to increase operational efficiencies and significantly reduce emissions.
The 500-megawatt power facility in Mauban, Quezon will provide baseload power capacity to meet the growing power demand in Luzon. Scheduled to start commercial operations in the first half 2019, this project will be the first supercritical coal plant in the Philippines.
San Buenaventura Power Ltd. Co. (SBPL) is a joint venture between the affiliates of Meralco PowerGen Corporation and Thailand’s EGCO Group, representing these groups’ strong commitment to contribute to efforts to attain energy security in the country.
